I am a big pro-wrestling fan. As such, I’ve seen plenty of men and women beat each other to a bloody pulp. They give long, scathing interviews about their opponents, where no personal attack is off the table. There’s a wrestler in AEW whose whole thing is making fun of people whose dads have died. Back in the day (the ’80s/’90s), these feuds would be as close-guarded as possible to keep up the illusion of the sport. Someone like Christian Cage can tease Jack Perry for Luke Perry’s passing (seriously), and then they will be seen snapping a pic together.
It’s healthier than the alternative! Wrestlers don’t need to spend all their time pretending to dislike someone they don’t. Still, it’s incredibly jarring to see a wrestler hate someone so passionately that they would make a big, public show about it and then snap a selfie with them backstage. I know the events in the ring are staged, but sometimes, it’s hard to shake an image of two people who have been at each other’s throats. You clicked on the article. Do you see where I’m going with this?
Some of my favorite experiences with Jon Stewart involved him calling O’Reilly out on his bullshit, to his face, on his own show. Stewart also brought O’Reilly on The Daily Show in 2014 to have a debate. It was a move that Stewart said he regretted. So, imagine my surprise when I saw Stewart and O’Reilly posing for a post-show picture.

To be fair, Stewart looks kind of miserable. To be unfair, the only thing that has changed about O’Reilly since their last debate is that ole’ Bill was fired due to multiple sexual harassment claims. Jon Stewart is allowed to take pictures with whoever he likes. If Bill O’Reilly wants to get backstage, and that is seemingly not a red flag to Jon Stewart’s team, more power to him, I guess. I certainly wouldn’t want to spend more time around O’Reilly if I didn’t have to. Not like one of the lone commenters on the post:
