Sara Ramirez Suggests They Have Exited 'And Just Like That' Over Pro-Palestinian Activism

Sara Ramirez, who plays Che Diaz — a deeply unpopular character on the Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That — suggested on social media that they will not return for season three of the series, implying their exit is related to their pro-Palestinian activism.

‘Our industry is so duplicitous,’ they wrote last night on Instagram. “While they give awards away, casting directors and agents are making blacklists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians in Gaza to ensure they will not work again.”

“While they award ‘lgbtq orgs,’ Ramirez added, “they are silent on those orgs ties to weapons manufacturers who are currently supporting the Israel military as it commits genocide on Palestinian lives that include LGBTQIA2S+ lives.”

It is worth noting that And Just Like That star Cynthia Nixon has also been actively advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza, joining Queens Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani — a longtime organizer for Palestinian rights — and others for a five-day hunger strike in December.

It is also worth noting that the series had exhausted the character of Che, an already exhausting character who had broken up with Miranda and had little reason to continue on the series, as we have written in the past.

In the Instagram post, Ramirez also mocked actors who “need awards” while calling out many in the industry for being performative. “It’s wild how performative so many in Hollywood are,” wrote Ramirez, who recently carried a trans flag at a Queers for Palestine rally in Brooklyn. “Even more performative than the last character I played,” Ramirez added, referring to a character they previously defended.

Calls for a ceasefire in Gaza have been growing in recent weeks, even among moderate Democrats, as well as Bernie Sanders, the Jewish Senator from Vermont who initially opposed a ceasefire.
