You got that sense that Glen Powell would be a great host of SNL based on his SNL promo alone: Anyone that puts that much effort into promoting their episode is probably game for anything. And Powell did deliver one of the best episodes of the season. Unfortunately, it didn’t translate into box-office success for Running Man.
I don’t think that Ryan Gosling needs to worry about that for Project Hail Mary. That movie is going to be huge. But Gosling is also one of SNL’s all-time great hosts. He’s been hosting now for 11 years, and it feels like he should be in the 5-Timers Club. Ryan Gosling agrees. And that’s the premise of his freakin’ great promo for this weekend’s episode, which may just top Powell’s for best of the season, so far.
