It’s been a big week for beef between former cast members in long-running family sitcoms. Earlier this week, Jeff Garlin from The Goldbergs once again blamed all of his bad behavior on set on his undiagnosed bipolar disorder, saying that’s why he was “mean — really mean.” His co-star and TV wife, Wendi McLendon-Covey, disagreed with that characterization on Instagram, writing, “Huh. Let’s just say I remember things very differently, as does the crew, the other actors, the writers, and our executives.” (McLendon-Covey had previously stated that she had PTSD from working with him).
Also, can you believe that The Goldbergs ran for 10 seasons? That’s as many seasons as the original Roseanne. Speaking of which, someone gave Roseanne Barr a platform again — the Can’t Be Censored podcast — and she used it to complain about Michael Fishman, who played DJ Conner in the original run of Roseanne and who exited the reboot, The Conners, after the fourth season.
Last month, Fishman had “vehemently” condemned Roseanne Barr’s “reprehensible and intolerable” online statements about race, which had gotten her fired from the Roseanne reboot. Barr did not take kindly to that. Fishman added that Barr’s online comments were “dehumanizing” and caused “damage.”
“He f—-ing doesn’t even know what I f—-ing said, even though I’ve explained it 10,000 times for nine years on the internet,” Barr said. “He hasn’t even taken the time to listen to what I say because he’s a bigot. And he’s a brainwashed bigot,” she added on the podcast.
“I told him, ‘Let me explain this to you, Michael: Go and f—- yourself,” she said, “and stay f—-ed ‘till the day you die. Don’t f—-ing put my name in your f—-ing mouth. Shut the f—- up. You are an ignoramus and a bigot, and you have no idea what I said, because it contradicts the Democrat party that you’ve had shoved down your throat and up your a—. And so just f—- you.”
“You think I said Black people look like monkeys. Go f—— yourself, you little f—-ing worm. And I’m glad they fired you because I was the only reason you were ever on that show. They wanted to get rid of you in the reboot and I made them take you back.”
Chill, Roseanne. Jeez.
