Paramount, fresh off their losing bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, has renewed the biggest show currently on the streamer, Landman, for a third season only weeks after creator Taylor Sheridan announced he would be departing for Peacock in 2028. Get those Landman ratings while they’re hot, David Ellison. Don’t worry, though: Ellison still has rights to South Park for many, many more years (and headaches) to come.
Elsewhere, Apple TV has picked up the very fun Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne series Platonic for a third season. With this and The Studio, Rogen is now competing with Bill Lawrence over who gets to be the Taylor Sheridan of Apple TV.
Speaking of Apple TV, they’ve renewed Tehran for a fourth season ahead of the third-season premiere. It’s been three and a half years since season two aired, so I assumed Apple had forgotten about it. I watch Tehran, but I genuinely don’t remember if Hugh Laurie was in the second season. He is definitely in the third.
Hulu, meanwhile, has picked up Glenn Powell’s Chad Powers for a second season. I didn’t love the first, but I’ll concede it’s infinitely watchable. The season also ended halfway through the college season in Chad Powers, so I’d like to see how that plays out.
Hulu has also renewed The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives for a fourth (and probably fifth) season. They ordered 20 episodes for season two and split them into two seasons. They’ve ordered 20 more for season four, so expect another split. The season-three reunion aired last night, and it was messy as hell — the men of DadTok may have actually outmessed MomTok.
For what it’s worth, CBS has also picked up the Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue, for a second season. I will never watch this, but I’m happy Sonequa Martin-Green and Maggie Lawson are gainfully employed, though I’d prefer it be in something I actually watch. CBS also renewed Sheriff Country. If you’re wondering who is gainfully employed there, Sheriff Country stars Morena Baccarin, Matt Lauria (of FNL fame), and … Caroline Rhea? That’s random.
Finally, NBC has canceled Deal or No Deal Island. I never watched it, despite the participation of some Survivor favorites. I suppose that means host Joe Manganiello is not gainfully employed. I’m sure there’s a CBS procedural waiting for him.
