Whenever any member of The Community cast is interviewed for a project they are promoting, someone will invariably ask them about a Community movie. For the last several months, some of those actors have started to respond by saying that it’s no longer a matter of if, but when.
I’m not sure how much of an appetite remains for it, but Peacock — which has also acquired the entire Community library — has ordered up the movie. Details are thin, including the exact participants. The Peacock press release notes that the movie — written by Dan Harmon — will reunite “Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong,” but there is no mention of Donald Glover or Yvette Nicole Brown in the press release. However, Joel McHale’s announcement on Twitter mentions both Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown.
Either way, I’ll watch it. Any fan of the original probably will, although I’m a little concerned that the moment has passed. I can’t imagine it will be much more than fan service, but I also hope it finally solves the mystery of the Ass Crack Bandit. Pop! Pop!
