In 2020, a man named Tim Bliefnick appeared on Family Feud, and when Steve Harvey asked him what his biggest mistake was, he joked, “Saying I do” to his wife. The moment went viral. Three years later, however, that same man has been convicted of murdering his wife, Rebecca Postle Bliefnick.

The couple divorced a year after the Family Feud episode in 2021. Their divorce and custody disputes were acrimonious. During the trial, the jury learned that in February 2022, Tim Bliefnick rode a bike he purchased from Facebook Marketplace under an assumed name to Rebecca Bliefnick’s house. He then climbed up to the second floor, used a crowbar to open a window the way he learned from Google searches, chased her into the bathroom, and shot her 14 times — once for each year of their marriage. After a 7-day trial, the jury took less than one day to find him guilty of her murder.

Rebecca Bliefnick, only 41 at the time of her death, likely anticipated her own murder. She had taken out protective orders against Tim and had sought help from both her divorce attorneys and law enforcement to ensure her safety. They failed her. She also texted friends expressing fear for her life and informed her sister that if anything were to happen to her, her ex-husband should be the primary suspect.

To support her three sons, Rebecca’s family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign.
