Just Give This Man the 'DWTS' Crown, Already

Do you know what joy feels like? For those of you who maybe haven’t experienced it in a few years, I’ll remind you: It’s sort of a tingly, happy sensation. You smile without meaning to. Sometimes, you smile and get misty at the same time. That’s the best kind of joy.

Harry Shum, Jr. and his partner Jenna Johnson elicited that joy on last night’s Dancing with the Stars. It was … masterful. They danced to “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” and Shum channeled Dick Van Dyke from Marry Poppins and Gene Kelly and Charlie Chaplin. Just watch this. It is incredible.

And yes, they scored perfect 10s for the second week in a row. They weren’t the only couple to score perfectly this week, either. Jenna Dewan and Jenna Johnson’s husband, Val Chmerkovskiy, became the second dance couple to pull off that feat this year dancing to a Beauty and the Beast song (in case it isn’t apparent, it was Disney night, and Disney/ABC have the resources to pull off amazing costumes, incredible makeup, and actual Broadway stars to perform the songs).

And, finally, there was one more perfect score last night in the team competition. Last year, Alfonso Ribeiro dusted off The Carlton and won for his team. He didn’t this year, however, and lost to Julianne Hough’s team, which knocked the threads out of our socks with a High School Musical number.

Sadly, Julia Stiles was eliminated at the end of the night despite turning in one of her better performances. She just couldn’t hang with the Dewans, Shums, and Ezras of this season. She went out on a high note, however, to “Satisfied” from Hamilton.
