Jimmy Kimmel’s Prank Call To His Aunt Goes Hilariously Wrong

You can take the boy out of radio but you can’t take the radio out of the boy! Right? Pretty sure that’s how that goes. Jimmy Kimmel, who got his start in radio, loves pulling pranks like the little scamp that he is. Well, this go-‘round he tried to prank call his aunt about her COVID vaccination (more on that in a sec) and she caught on pretty darn quick!

At first, I was a little nervous to click on this video. Prank calling someone about something so serious seemed… ghoulish. However, the joke here is relatively simple and not very mean-spirited. Just Jimmy, calling in to confirm the time for his aunt’s second dose but giving her the wrong day. Some may still find that a little cruel, but I enjoyed it more than I expected. Especially because Aunt Chippy wasn’t so easily fooled!

The real fun of the sketch comes when Jimmy’s Aunt realizes it’s him and starts laying into him. She knows it’s him, he knows he’s busted, and it just gets nice and silly from there on out. It also made me want to go looking for more clips of Aunt Chippy because she is a delight.

I can’t stress enough that I didn’t expect to like this bit. Pranks don’t always sit well with me, especially when they revolve around something serious. But, this one made me laugh pretty hard and at the end of the day, it was harmless. Maybe I just need to watch more failed pranks?
