As most know by now, Jimmy Kimmel’s bandleader and childhood best friend, Cleto Escobedo III, passed away yesterday morning at the age of 59. Kimmel is going to take a couple of days off, but he did want to tape a show last night so that he could honor his friend. And honor his friend, he does in a tearful, heartfelt, and emotional 22-minute monologue.
There’s nothing we can add here beyond Kimmel’s tribute to Cleto Escobedo III.
Be good to your friends. I can only hope to be eulogized by someone who has as much affection for me as Kimmel does for Cleto Escobedo III. What a loss.
May his memory be a blessing.
