Jimmy Kimmel Makes Snoop Dogg's Birthday A National Holiday

I started 2020 stone-cold sober. My wife and I were trying to have kids, and years of marijuana use left my swimmers confused, unmotivated, and snacky. It sucked. Before the year became as bad as we know it to be, I faced my biggest challenge. My birthday is in mid-January. All I wanted to do was smoke a bowl on my birthday. Even at my most “in need of weed,” I never could have imagined a birthday celebration like the one Snoop Dogg had on Jimmy Kimmel: Live.

Snoop joined Kimmel on the eve of his birthday. To celebrate, Jimmy declared that 10/20, which is halfway to 4/20, be declared DoggFather’s Day. Guillermo came out looking like a Times Square weed mascot (which will surely be a thing soon). A banner was unfurled in front of the theater (a CG one, at least). There was an actual declaration on giant rolling papers!

While I smoke weed (I started again when my wife got pregnant), I can’t imagine having it be your whole brand. It seems like too much work. I don’t really smoke during the day anymore. I get tired more easily. I’m also a heavy snacker without the assistance of THC. When I’m high, I will sleep-eat peanut butter while smearing it on the cabinets like I’m leaving a warning to peanuts.

Snoop Dogg is living his best life. He has his brand. He’s having fun. He’s speaking out for striking actors! I know Kimmel did it in jest, but why not make today a holiday for Snoop Dogg? From what I can see, today is home to National Brandied Fruit Day. We can do better than that.
