When F. Murray Abraham abruptly exited Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest without explanation, the initial concern was likely sexual misconduct. With Frank Langella being fired from Mike Flanagan’s Fall of the House of Usher, and Bill Murray being fired from Aziz Ansari’s movie, it felt like older white men didn’t know how to handle themselves on movie and television sets in 2023.

However, F. Murray Abraham soon thereafter showed up in the second season of White Lotus, and his departure from Mythic Quest was all but forgotten. The narrative quickly shifted to “He must have had a scheduling conflict.”

Not so, according to Rolling Stone. The 83-year-old in fact was fired for sexual misconduct.

Two concerns were raised about Abraham’s behavior. The first incident resulted in Abraham being given a warning and told to keep away from some of the show’s actresses, according to a production source. After a second incident was brought to creator and star Rob McElhenney’s attention, Rolling Stone understands that Abraham was let go from the show.

It must have been maddening for the women he harassed on Mythic Quest to see Abraham make all those appearances on stage to accept awards with the cast of White Lotus, especially because he played an older character from another generation who couldn’t stop making inappropriate comments to and about women.
