Cold Open — Bowen Yang does what is probably his last impression of George Santos. He’s a very good George Santos, but Santos — like Trump — is parody-proof, so there’s no real bite to the sketch. (Watch Here) (Score: 4 out of 10)
Emma Stone Monologue — Emma joins the five-timers Club, which means she gets a visit from Tina Fey and Candice Bergen, who tell her about the women’s section of the Five-Timer’s Club. Always good to see Tina and Candice, although they don’t do anything particularly special besides appear. (Score: 6 out of 10)
Question Quest — In a game show, Emma Stone answers one question and wins … a tortoise, which can live up to 175 years. She doesn’t want to commit to a lifetime of owning a tortoise, and the sketch continues from there. (Score: 5 out of 10)
Fully Naked in New York — Now we’re talking! A ballad about one’s desire to do things fully naked that no one wants to see, like driving on the back of a trash truck or doing construction. (Score: 6.5 out of 10)
Scooter Boots — What happens when you put one of SNL’s all-time great hosts with two of its best cast members in Kenan and Bowen, and you give them a lousily-written sketch? They transcend it, but they can only do so much. Skeedle-dee-doo. (Watch Here) (Score: 4 out of 10)
Please Don’t Destroy — During a sequence in which Emma Stone and one of the Please Don’t Destroy guys confess their love for one another, the “data is corrupted,” so Emma’s corrupted face is digitally laid over Punkie Johnson’s to create a spectacularly creepy image. Very uncanny valley. (Score: 5 out of 10)
What’s in the Kiln? — Heidi and Chloe host a show where they show their amateur pottery, and the pottery is awful. Their guest, played by Emma, also makes bad pottery, including a sculpture of her mother’s vagina. Emma is doing a lot of work to salvage this week’s episode. (Watch Here) (Score: 5 out of 10)
Weekend Update — Che and Jost are mid this week, but Michael Longfellow as a cigarette discussing how much cooler he is than a vape is perfection. It’s the Mat sketch of the week. (Score: 6.5 out of 10)
Mama Cass — … and here is why Emma Stone is the best. Chloe Troast plays Mama Cass singing “Make Your Own Kind of Music,” while her manager (Emma Stone) acts out all the violent movies the song will be used in forty years later. Outstanding. (Score: 9 out of 10)
Physics Test — Marcello plays a kid studying for a physics test, complaining that physics is meaningless while the posters on his wall — including the hot Instagram model — explain to him how it’s used in the real world. Eh. (Watch Here) (Score: 5 out of 10)
