While we wait to see if Nick Cannon will be fired from The Masked Singer over the anti-Semitic comments that got him fired from CBS/Viacom, we have also learned what “new direction” that Dancing with the Stars is taking after firing longtime host Tom Bergeron and his co-host, Erin Andrews. Tyra Banks will be replacing Bergeron, as both host and an executive producer.
I do not watch Dancing with the Stars, and I do not really care about Dancing with the Stars, but while Bergeron seems like a very pleasant fella, this actually does seem like an upgrade. Tyra Banks is a very good host of things, and I’m sure after 15 years of Tom Bergeron’s Dad jokes, DWTS could use an update.
Meanwhile, in news about a show I actually do watch, I am so very bummed to report that Survivor will not return in the fall due to production delays owed to the Coronavirus. They pulled the show back in March right after production got underway, and they’re not yet ready to get things going again. For those of you thinking — as I originally did — how hard is it to quarantine Probst and 20 contestants before dropping them on an isolated island, the real difficulty is actually the crew of around 400 people who come from all over the globe to work on Survivor.
The original fall schedule had both Survivor and Amazing Race on Wednesday nights, which was almost too much for me to handle (both are popular family shows in my household). Amazing Race, which taped a season that was originally going to air in May, will still occupy Wednesday nights along with whatever bullshit CBS procedurals that air on Wednesdays.
