Imelda Staunton, Will.i.am, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. appeared on The Graham Norton show this week (promoting what? I’m not sure. Cuba has nothing forthcoming, except a movie called Louisiana Caviar that he wrote, directed, and stars in, but it doesn’t yet have a release date). Anyway, the topic turned to the Oscars, for which Imelda Staunton has been nominated. Cuba Gooding Jr. obviously won an award and gave one of the ceremony’s most memorable speeches in Oscar history.
Anyway, after Staunton speaks about bringing snacks to the Oscars so that her and her 11-year-old daughter (who she brought along) didn’t starve during the ceremony, Cuba tells a story about the Oscar losers in the room, the folks you don’t think about, and how being a winner can be hilariously alienating by the end of the night.
One other story of note: Will.i.am talks about famous music videos that he’s missed out on, and while the story isn’t that great, it ends with great line, “Boy, you ain’t going in no alley with Michael Jackson.”
