In Apple TV+’s Sugar, Colin Farrell plays a private investigator, John Sugar, investigating the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, “the granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel’s family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried.”
The series comes from screenwriter Mark Protosevich (The Cell, I Am Legend, Thor) and also stars Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, James Cromwell, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. Interestingly, it’s also categorized as a sci-fi drama and described as “a genre-bending contemporary take on the private detective story set in Los Angeles.” The trailer appears to be hiding the sci-fi elements.
The limited series premieres on Apple TV+ on April 5th.
