Is it weird to hero-worship a thirteen-year-old fictional teenager? If it is, don’t tell me, because I will eternally look up to Claudia Kishi, who is forever 13 and awesome. It brings me great joy to share the following with you—Netflix has unveiled what the cast of The Baby-Sitter’s Club will look like, and honestly, I’m very, very happy:
How cool does Claudia look?! If you were anything like me growing up, you relished the description of Claudia’s “funky” outfits, because she had more style than one could ever possibly hope to have. Here’s pics of all the individual characters:
So, noted BSC-ologists among us will note that there’s 5 characters here, and we all know that the BSC originally launched with just four sitters. I strongly suspect that the extra person is Dawn, who wouldn’t appear until book #4. Even though I think Dawn is the WORST, I think they may have made her less insufferable in this iteration based on how they’ve dressed her. This Netflix Dawn seems pleasant and I very much appreciate that she’s not the California surfer blonde that was (over) described in the book. I’m willing to let an almost 30-year grudge against this fictional character die if they don’t make Dawn a self-righteous brat like she was in the books. Sorry to the Dawn
apologists fans among us, but man, I really disliked her. She’s blonde and from California. We get it, Ann M. Martin, OK!?
You know who I love though? Claudia, Stacey, and Kristy (Mary Anne is just OK) so I’m very excited to spend some time with them again.
The Baby-Sitter’s Club series will premiere on Netflix later this year. Obviously I will be there at midnight when it’s released. BSC 4-Eva!!
