Amy Jo Johnson Isn't In 'The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' Reunion For Reasons (That She Won't Share)

I have never seen an episode of The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I was too old to care about it when it came out, but not old enough to have kids who watched it. The only thing that I know about the series is that Amy Jo Johnson — whose terrible subplot nearly sank seasons two and three of Felicity — was the Pink Power Ranger. When the trailer for Netflix’s reunion movie debuted last week, I watched for one reason only: To see if Amy Jo Johnson was in it.

My thoughts on the trailer: 1) That looks really bad; why did people watch that? Youth is no excuse 2) Why would anyone who watched the original series 30 years ago want to revisit that in their 30s and 40s? 3) Where is the Pink Power Ranger? Amy Jo Johnson is not in the film.

A number of other people had the same question, and a number of them speculated that it was about the money. The last time that Johnson spoke about it, she said that she didn’t say “no” to the reunion, “I just didn’t say yes to what was offered.” I understand why some might think that money was the root of her decision. However, Johnson rejected that assertion on social media and countered that it was none of our business.

“Please stop saying I didn’t do reunion because of money. Simply not true. Maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s or couldn’t go to NZ for a month. Or none of ur beeswax.” The old beeswax defense, eh? I’m sure she has her reasons. In the meantime, she is “excited to see my pals David Yost & Walter Jones rock it though!!”

I will also note that there is absolutely an alternate reality where she married Scott Foley during Felicity and now she is the Jennifer Garner of Hollywood.
