This year is off to a rocky start, y’all! Just when we thought the horror of 2020 was behind us, 2021 kicked things off with a hefty dose of treasonous tragedy. Before we assume that 2021 will be just as bad as last year, we should remember that SOME good came out of 2020. For instance, Amber Ruffin got her own show! So now, we have this sketch to remind us that… actually, like, one good thing happened in 2020.

Amber has not been shy about singing on her show and this segment starts as many of the rest do. Amber questions something, Tarik chimes in, and they break out into song. What separates this song from the rest is that the duo quickly realize they have nothing to sing about… except for Donald Trump losing the election.

I was pleasantly caught off guard by this whole bit. What I thought was going to be another song (which I would have been totally fine with) turned into Amber and Tarik grasping at anything they could think of (still to no avail). The best part is that the song keeps going in the background. I won’t spoil anything else, but the song still playing led to one of my heartiest laughs.

I meant it when I said that Amber Ruffin getting her own show was one of the best parts of 2020. My guess is, by the end of what I hope is a long run, she’ll have a whole collection of songs. And for me, this one will go down as a real standout. Oh! And! You’ll be able to find them in her new YouTube channel! Look, 2021 is already turning around!
