Lots of people leave Saturday Night: Live and have wildly successful careers. It isn’t easy. Plenty of folks have left the show and don’t do much afterward. But others reach meteoric heights you would have never expected when you watched them put on a wig and pretend to be Janet Reno. Still, there are more ways to have a successful career than leading big-budget comedies. Being a consistently funny supporting player is just as important.

Tim Meadows was on SNL for ten seasons. He was always funny, whether he was leading a sketch or reacting to its utter silliness. Upon leaving the show, his career continued to blossom. He began racking up roles in film and television like it was his job. Which… okay it is his job, but you get my point. The man is prolific, and he just added another show to the list.

James Gunn is slowly but surely building his DCU. He wrote and is directing a new Superman film due out next year. An animated show set in the universe called Creature Commandos will hit MAX in December. As if Gunn didn’t have enough on his plate, he also kicked off production on season 2 of his acclaimed DCU show Peacemaker, which stars John Cena as the titular character.

Gunn took to Instagram to announce that Meadows will be joining Cena in season 2 of the hit show as ARGUS Agent Langston Fleury. Given how funny the first season was, Meadows is going to fit right in. The announcement also comes as Deadline reports Superbad director Greg Mottola will be directing episodes of the series. Gunn directed five out of eight episodes in season one, but it looks like he’ll be getting behind the camera less this season so he can be in Metropolis.

Details about season two of Peacemaker are still light, but another recent casting choice may shed some light on the direction it’s going. Frank Grillo will be reprising his role of Rick Flag Sr. who he will voice in Creature Commandos. He is the father of Rick Flag, played by Joel Kinnaman in the Suicide Squad films, and may have a bone or two to pick with John Cena’s anti-hero. We’ll have to wait to find out.
