I don’t know about everyone else, but I’ve gotten to the point in the election cycle where I’ve had my fill. I know who I’m voting for, I don’t need any more information, social media is so full of misinformation that it’s completely useless at the moment, everyone is tense and yell-y, and I’m ready to get the show on the road. Harris is up by three nationally, according to the NYTimes this morning (why am I getting push notifications about polls at 5 a.m., NYTimes?), she holds a slight advantage in the states needed to win the Electoral College, and honestly, neither candidate has said anything in the last few weeks that we haven’t already heard a dozen times.

That includes Kamala Harris, who appeared on 60 Minutes last night and stuck to the script. She’s in the midst of a weeklong media blitz that, so far, has generated more headlines for Alex Cooper, the Call Her Daddy podcaster with a politically diverse audience who incurred some backlash for having Harris on, and Donald Trump, who backed out of his 60 Minutes interview last night.

It hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves because Donald Trump is graded on another scale by the very media outlets that keep pointing out that Donald Trump is graded on another scale. But while everyone already knows Donald Trump — after nine years, there’s nothing we don’t know about the guy — it’s still important to point out that he backed out of the 60 Minutes episode, that he refuses to accept a second debate, that he won’t turn over his medical records, and that there is clear evidence of cognitive decline.

Why is it important? Because of this:

Ms. Harris has since shored up her support among older voters and has begun making inroads among Republicans: 9 percent said they planned to support her, up slightly from 5 percent last month.

Reasonable Republicans are where Harris can peel off more voters, and reasonable Republicans — the kind who support Adam Kinzinger or (JFC) Liz Cheney — may still consider voting for Harris because Trump has become increasingly impossible for them to vote for. And so, here is 60 Minutes explaining why Donald Trump backed out of their interview:

The Trump campaign didn’t want to be fact-checked. That’s certainly true, but this cancellation, combined with Trump’s refusal to do a second debate, suggests even more than that: The Trump campaign doesn’t believe their candidate can appear in public outside of a rally or a friendly interview like Sean Hannity without embarrassing himself. That doesn’t seem like a person who reasonable Republicans should consider voting for next month.
