Matlock on CBS at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. The Kathy Bates reboot of the classic detective story, Matty will use her unassuming demeanor to disarm those she investigates after deciding to rejoin the working world in her 70s.

Rescue: Hi-Surf on Fox at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. I don’t know a whole lot about this show other than it used an ominous, slowed down version of Weezer’s “Island in the Sun” for a promo and that feels about right. People go surfing, it goes poorly.

From on MGM+ at 9:00pm ET. Third season premiere. I haven’t joined the From train yet with some of my colleagues, but I figured I’d mention it so that anyone currently suffering along with them is aware that it’s back again. I’m trying to work through the entire run of Homicide: Life on the Street for now, so I’m very interested to talk about things that happened on TV over two decades ago.
