Issue 100 of The Walking Dead was released in July of 2012. It was the issue that introduced Negan. It’s safe to say that, in the years since that issue was released, seeing how the television show would replicate Negan’s introduction has been the most anticipated moment on the series. Comics readers have waited nearly four years. Those who don’t read the comics have nevertheless probably known about Negan for at least the last two years. Speculation about who he would kill in his first appearance has been running hot since the announcement that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would play the character in November. That was five months ago.

For five months, all that anyone wanted to know was: Who will Negan kill? We knew Glenn died in the comics, but given the fact that Glenn has already had a number of scares with death this season, we thought it might be someone else. Maybe Daryl? Maybe Carol? Or Morgan? Or Carol? Or even Michonne?

Negan was finally introduced in tonight’s season finale, “Last Day on Earth,” but we’re still going to have to wait another nearly 7 months to find out who he killed.

Viewers on Twitter were apoplectic.
