***Spoiler Warning: In case you didn’t catch it in the headline, there’s a HUGE SPOILER for an upcoming Walking Dead episode — as well as Comic Spoilers — and a character’s fate. Back on out if you don’t want to be Spoiled.***

Forget whatever romantic plans you have for this Sunday, February 14th, because by 10 p.m., you and your sweetie’ll be parked in front of whatever viewing device you use to watch The Walking Dead. FINALLY. I don’t know what kind of wacky pills those AMC execs are popping, but this extended break has been positively torturous, bordering on the cruel and unusual. Speaking of, I do go on, don’t I? Let’s get to the bottom line: Negan is coming. And with Negan come comic events, but maybe not exactly the comic events we’re expecting. Gimple and Co. seem to enjoy subverting expectations, twisting storylines to mess with our heads. Not many of us were convinced by that ridiculous Glenn ploy, but perhaps it was a diversionary tactic that’ll play out later?

One particular comic character the series changed up was Alexandria leader, Douglas Monroe; instead we were treated to Tovah Feldshuh as Deanna Monroe, who in the mid-season finale was on her deathbed, waiting to shoot herself right before turning. In a last minute burst of courage Deanna shot a herd of walkers before being munched, so who fulfills her (Douglas’) comic destiny?

***Comic Spoilers ahead***
In the Walking Dead comic “No Way Out,” Douglas Monroe shoots into a crowd of zombies and accidentally hits Carl, who loses an eye and part of his face. ***End Comic Spoilers****

However it happens and to what extent his injuries, Carl’s future fate appears to have been spoiled by a Russian promo poster:

When last we saw them, Rick, Michonne, Jessie, Ron, Sam, Carl and Gabriel are similarly (to the comic) covered in guts and working their way through a horde of walkers. We’ll have to wait until Sunday’s (at the least) “No Way Out” to see exactly how — and by whose hand — Carl is hurt.

Meanwhile, you can prove your love by sending your sweetie one of these groovy Walking Dead Valentines. Nothing says “I’ll love you forever, even after you’re dead!” like a zombie card.
