The Disney machine is moving forward with the next Star Wars trilogy faster than a lightsaber can cut off an arm. We’ve barely had time to digest our excitement over December’s Force Awakens trailers, and they’re already making offers to Episode VIII actors — specifically, to a great actor who’s already proven his villainous capabilities in the MCU.
That’s right; the great Benicio del Toro — Guardians of the Galaxy’s Collector — has reportedly been offered main villain role in Rian Johnson’s second of the third trilogy films, which is scheduled for release May 26, 2017. Though there are barely any details about the film — other than that The Force Awakens’ Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), John Boyega (Finn) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) will all return, and Donnie Yen (Rogue One, Ip Man) has been cast — Star Wars loves and needs its bad guys. If he takes the role, Del Toro will make a fine addition to the family, and I can’t wait to see what happens if he gets to meet up with Rogue One’s Ben Mendelsohn.
