For those of you who still haven’t heard Bloodline’s perfectly American-accented Danny Rayburn portrayer, Ben Mendelsohn speaking with his natural (Australian) voice, you’re in for a Pedro Pascal worthy surprise. And Mendelsohn is positively adorable in this MTV clip, wherein the interviewer tries to coax the actor into admitting the rumor he’s joined the Gareth Edwards Star Wars spinoff, Rogue One is true. From Ben’s hilarious antics, I think we can indeed presume the rumor is true (Variety says he’ll be the main villain), and it’s obvious the actor has a great love for the franchise. It’s always a kick to see people in the business who are just as thrilled by beloved movies as we are.
Fuggedaboudit (ha!), he can’t hide anything. So far, the only officially announced cast is Felicity Jones, although there’s another rumor today — that Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Four Lions) has also joined the spinoff about a group of rebels trying to steal the original Death Star plans.
Mendelsohn and co-star Kodi Smit-McPhee are currently doing the publicity rounds for Slow West (also starring the Fassbender), in theaters May 15th.
