During my senior year of high school, I shared a locker with my best friend, and we both agreed that we could up one decoration each. She chose a photo of Justin Timberlake (‘N Sync-era). I opted for my biggest crush of that moment: Ephram Brown from Everwood. I don’t know what it was about him that appealed to me. Maybe it was because he was a city kid who moved to the middle of nowhere, where no one understood his New York sensibilities, but I knew, if I had been there, I’D get him. It would’ve been true love.

That’s why I was so happy to attend the Everwood reunion at the ATX Television Festival earlier this month. The parted brown hair, the blue eyes, that same wide smile. It was weird to discover he was just a year older than me, and

The festival played old Everwood clips, and once Ephram appeared on screen, I was 17 again (not the movie)—I had all the same feelings: my heartbeat quickened, my stomach felt all funny, it was like getting a glimpse of my crush in the hallway between class periods.

Who were your television high school crushes? Do you still feel the same way about ‘em?

Nadia Chaudhury ended up telling Gregory Smith about the photo in her high school locker.
