Its title would seem to give away too much, but the specifics of what may be happening in this seaside town full is well-hidden, slightly terrifying. Lucile Hadzihalilovic’s (Innocence) original Évolution script introduces an isolated group of boys and their mothers; clearly something nefarious is happening in this eerie trailer, but what? There’s a wonderfully creepy Boys from Brazil meets Under the Skin or The Omen undercurrent running through, and like many of our favorite trailers, not a single word is spoken.
I’ve already viewed the trailer several times and even slowed down, this moment
is freaking me out.
WHAT IS HAPPENING? Aliens, right? Satanic rituals, right? Clones, right?
Évolution stars Max Brebant, Roxane Duran and Julie-Marie Parmentier, and premiered at the 2015 TIFF. It opens March 16, 2016 in France, US release TBA. (I recommend you skip reading the full imdb description, which is a little more in depth than most.)
