Tucker Carlson is So! Open! Minded! That He's Shouting! About! It!

You’d think after getting thoroughly dunked on by Lauren Duca of Teen Vogue earlier in December, Tucker Carlson would learn when he’s fighting a losing battle with an expert pundit. Of course, you’d probably have thought that after he got dunked on by Jon Stewart thirteen (!!!) years ago, and yet here he still is.

This time around, Carlson invited everybody’s favorite science guy, Bill Nye, onto the show to complain at him about climate change. Specifically, he heard Nye suggest that climate change deniers were suffering from cognitive dissonance, and decided that this meant Nye was calling him, a person who “has questions,” psychologically delusional. Hey buddy, you said it, not us.

Carlson then claimed that because Nye could not specifically name the exact “degree” to which climate change is caused by human activity — forgetting the fact that science is a process of understanding, not just a declaration of statistics — he must be misrepresenting the science on global warming and trying to shout down anyone who questions him on it. Which is hilarious, because if you watch the entire clip, only one of the two people on screen is shouting over someone — and it’s not Bill.

The kicker? “So much of this you don’t know,” Carlson said, loudly. “You pretend that you know, but you don’t know, and you bully people who ask questions. I’m open-minded, you are not.”

Open-minded, you say? So open-minded that you want your vaguely unscientific question answered in one extremely particular way and get visibly upset when someone actually tries to educate you? Yeah, that sounds about right.

open minded as hell.gif

Really, how much you wanna bet he’s just pissed Bill Nye can rock a bow tie better than he ever did?
