The Definition Of Irony, Alanis, Is Ben Carson Trapped In A Public Housing Elevator
You know how people who are better than us like to invoke curses that are more annoying than damning? You know, like instead of “I hope this person dies horribly and their ashes are spread on the wind,” they say something along the lines of “I hope this person steps on a LEGO every day for the rest of their life,” that sort of thing.
Well, someone appears to have successfully invoked one of these curses on the entire Republican wing of American politics, because wouldn’t you know it, they keep getting stuck in elevators. As the Daily Dot noted last fall, it first started happening to anti-Trump conservatives like Ted Cruz and Amanda Carpenter, but now has evidently shifted focus.

Ben Carson was taking a tour of affordable housing in Miami, as part of his duties as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, when he and his wife became trapped in an elevator on the premises. It reportedly took five officials and at least 20 or so minutes to free the pair from their publicly funded prison.
Carson, you’ll remember, is a retired neurosurgeon who once ran for president and who has no formal education or experience in matters of urban housing. One wonders if a politician more qualified for his particular cabinet position wouldn’t have gotten trapped so easily — but then again, if he was actually equipped to do the job at hand, he probably wouldn’t have gotten cursed, huh?
