First off: yes, we were off last week! And while that does happen on occasion (usually because of illness or other life obligations), this week it was because Dustin had tickets to see Toad the Wet Sprocket in concert. So you know, a fair justification for not being able to record on our normal night.
But did Dustin let us know before we recorded last week, so that we wouldn’t promise an episode? He did not. So for those of you who were wondering why I said we would be back next week (last week, technically) without warning that we were taking the week off, that’s why.
As for this week’s episode:
We begin, unsurprisingly, with Survivor - not just because it’s one of the shows all three of us watch, but because of the strange circumstances of the episode, in which Jake (the big strong guy on the weakest tribe) was bitten by a snake and forced out of the game for medical reasons (don’t worry, he’s fine), an unfortunate incident that not only left his tribe even worse off, but also made the rest of the episode anticlimactic and honestly, kind of boring. It’s been a weird start to this season of Survivor, for sure.
We also talked about the new HBO series The Chair Company, which comes from Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, so if you’re a fan, you’re already in (and at least based on the premiere, won’t be disappointed). If you’re not already a fan, be prepared for some weird/fun stuff!
Then we got into Tori’s interests: namely, a brief detour about Julio Torres, and then Tori’s Anime Corner, where she talked about My Hero Academia and Spy x Family. Not to be outdone, we also had another Briefly! with Dustin, who brought up Boots on Netflix and the finale of Peacemaker. No special segment from me this week, but don’t worry, I’ve got some Celebrity Traitors UK thoughts brewing…
