Zack Snyder stopped by The Joe Rogan Experience, which should immediately set the tone for what’s about to happen next. While gushing about the “distribution model” at Netflix, Snyder boldly claimed that more people saw Rebel Moon than Barbie. And you know what? In theory, maybe. Netflix has a massive subscriber base and Rebel Moon reportedly had somewhere around 80 million views. However, what those views actually mean is where things get very murky. According to Snyder, Netflix assumes views are at least two people because people don’t watch things by themselves. An insanely dubious position right out of the gate. There’s also the nebulous nature of views because we have no idea whether the movie was actually finished. It’s almost like saying tap water is a more successful product than Coke because people leave it running in the background. More importantly, there’s the pop culture footprint. Barbie is up for several Oscars and people are anxiously waiting to see Ryan Gosling perform “I’m Just Ken” on stage. As for Rebel Moon, how many of you even remembered that was a thing before you saw this headline? I rest my case. (Variety)
