If you’ve been following the god awful situation around Savannah Guthrie’s mom, then you’re probably aware that there’s reportedly a ransom note demanding millions in Bitcoin. For most of the afternoon, it appeared that the note was sent to TMZ, but that’s not the case. The note was reportedly sent to a local Arizona station on Monday who made the call to sit on it while working with authorities. Somehow, TMZ obtained a copy and did not sit on it because ghouls are gonna ghoul. As of this writing, the Pima County Sheriff has not confirmed whether the note is legitimate. What makes this situation even more dire is that Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication, which was reportedly not taken from her house. If you’re the praying type, maybe say one for this poor woman and her family. (CBS News)

After a rough few years for Jim Butcher (and Harry Dresden), kittenkong42 felt like Twelve Months was a return to form. “It was therapeutic, there were touching conversations and lots of moments where people’s care was evident. At the same time real progress was made on plot as we get to find out more about the White Court and Winter.” Have you stuck with The Dresden Files? (Cannonball Read 18)
