Klara and the Sun is not doing great. The film is a both a box office and critical bomb, prompting Sony to pull back its theatrical release after last weekend’s dismal opening. — FWIW, Mae had good things to say in her review. — While most directors would ignore the critics, Taika Waititi is not most directors. He blasted critics on Saturday night calling them “sad lost souls who couldn’t achieve their dreams” among other things. (Variety)

So, Haley Stevens lit her entire political career on fire today by endorsing Republican Mike Rogers for Senate over Abdul El-Sayed, who beat her in the Democratic primary. Before anyone jumps to predictable and flat-out wrong talking points like this is what the establishment does to progressive candidates, Michigan kicked Haley Stevens out of the state Democratic Party in less than an hour. Her entire staff quit, and Chuck Schumer, the Establishment Godfather himself, got on the horn to condemn Stevens and cement even more of the party’s support behind El-Sayed. — Obama and Kamala were already in the state campaigning their butts off. — Inevitably, AIPAC will be brought up as a culprit, which also makes zero sense. Stevens just rallied more support behind El-Sayed and made herself completely worthless as an asset. She’ll be a pariah to both parties by Tuesday when Republicans waste no time eating her face and throwing her in the trash. Sometimes, the real reason is a tale as old time: Crazy lady falls in love with weirdo and all hell breaks loose. (Twitter)
