I was in college when Crazy Town blew up with “Toxic” followed by arguably their signature hit “Butterfly.” It’s a punchline now, but it didn’t rocket to the top of the charts for no reason. That’s not an easy thing to do. It’s also one of very few songs that immediately transports me back to being a 20-year-old moron in a pre-9/11 world that thought computers were going to kill everybody. Which did happen by the way, only much more slowly and with brain poison instead of internal clocks. Just so much brain poison. Anyway, RIP Shifty. (Rolling Stone)
