Hello, my Pajiba Loves! I missed you on Wednesday, but Mike was kind enough to fill in for me (thank you, Mike!). Tuesday afternoon, I had Botox for migraine injections for the first time, and as a lovely side effect, I’ve had a constant headache since. I’ve been assured that the headache should go away soon, but until that happens, I’ve been trying to stay off the computer as much as I can. I apologize if some of these links may be repeats from PLs this week. Also, there are a couple here that I was holding for last Wednesday.
Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey had their highly publicized fight last night, and it was over as quickly as it started. To the surprise of no one, Rousey tore through Carano like butter, ending the fight in just 17 seconds. Neither opponent plans to enter the ring again, so that’s the end of that. - (ESPN)
Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt should stay off social media entirely. - (PEOPLE)
Aww, it’s not just Dustin who loves Bill Lawrence! - (Vulture)
Eurovision was yesterday, and the winner was the second-favorite in my household. Our first choice was Norway. Did you all watch? Is Eurovision much of a thing in the US? I had this saved and intended to link it last week. I was definitely aware of the Israel boycott, but I was not aware that the boycott was also over how Israel was collecting votes. - (NYT gift article)
Sterling K. Brown loves seeing Black women win. - (Deadline)
Remember when Ryan Gosling gained 60 pounds for The Lovely Bones but then got fired and replaced with Mark Wahlberg? Ok, I forgot about that. But director Peter Jackson didn’t forget. - (EW)
I also always forget Cobie Smulders is married to Taran Killam. They have quite a lovely Canadian cabin/retreat. - (Architectural Digest)
Noah Wylie might actually be a doctor, specifically my doctor. He’s over here gaslighting people, telling them what they think they want, they don’t really want. - (AVC)
So many people have been terrorized by this jingle for, like, 25 years! - (EW)
Alison Green of Ask a Manager, which I used to link to frequently back in the day, answers the question “Should you tell your boss you’re taking a mental health day?” - (The Cut)
Even AI worker-bee chatbots will revolt if you keep treating them like crap for too long. - (Futurism)
The CEO of Canal+ will blacklist the artists who signed an open letter against the right-wing billionaire studio owner. - (THR)
Woody Harrelson thinks Americans should protest like the French. - (Yahoo)
Did you know that France also colonized India? Elderberrywine learned about that when she read Indian poet Tishani Doshi’s novel, Small Days and Nights. “The first [French colonial city] was established in 1674, with the rest coming along in the 1700s. Today, they form the Union Territory of Puducherry (AKA Pondicherry).” (Cannonball Read 18)
