If you’ve been reading Pajiba long enough, you know I’m a Marvel dork. Even though I’m clear-eyed about the sorry state of the franchise, I will go to bat against Film Twitter snobs or people complaining about how there’s too many of them when literally one was released this year. Exactly one. Speaking of, Marvel is reportedly getting ready to roll out an Oscars campaign for Deadpool & Wolverine, and yes, we’re talking Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor noms for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively. Uh, yeah, no. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the movie! It was a fun time, but Oscar-worthy it is not. Logan, absolutely. A dick-joke jamboree that lives and dies on cameos, nah. Did it save Marvel? It was a shot in the arm, that’s for sure, but that has nothing to do with the Oscars. As for the film that looks like it’s actually primed to make the case that Marvel is back: Thunderbolts. Gimme that over Ryan Reynolds’ non-stop chattering every day of the week. (Variety)

Jennifer Lawrence gets it. (Celebitchy)
JD Vance doesn’t know why you’re still pointing out that he openly admitted to lying about immigrants eating cats. (Wonkette)

No, the Thunderbolts poster wasn’t made with AI. (The Mary Sue)

Obviously, Russell Brand sucks and has his own litany of allegations, so in no way is this link meant to make him look like the good guy. Hell no. What it is meant to do is draw attention to some of the things Brand said about Diddy back in 2010 that were very telling. (Page Six)
We’re getting a new Robocop TV show. (THR)
Conan O’Brien Must Go Season 2 is already filming! (LateNighter)
Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic is faintingviolet’s pick for this year’s Banned Books Week. “Bechdel layers into this story the discussion of gender roles, dysfunctional family dynamics, life in a small town, fixations, and mental health which create a far deeper retelling of her life and her father’s, all while leaning heavily on their shared love of literature to unpack the resonances in their lives.” Have you picked up a book because it was banned? (Cannonball Read 16)
