Littleplat appreciated Helen Garner’s perspective in This House of Grief, about a father’s trial and retrial for the murder of his sons. “The focus of the book is not just on the crime itself, but the public reaction—so why not take yourself into consideration too?” Have you followed a trial you weren’t personally involved in closely?
