Yesterday, SNL cast member Ego Nwodim dropped the surprising news that she was leaving the show after seven seasons. The announcement came during a casting “shakeup” that saw several familiar faces hitting the bricks. However, in a new wrinkle, SNL reportedly auditioned three Black women over the summer — and hired none of them. Could Nwodim leaving and this decision be unrelated? It’s entirely possible. Does it not look great that SNL still has a problem hiring Black female comics right as one suddenly exits? Uh, yup. (LateNighter)
