It would be wrong to focus on any other story tonight, so let's give it up for Cory Booker, who broke the record for the longest Senate protest speech in history. That honor was previously held by Strom Thurmond, who lasted 24 hours and 18 minutes in 1957. However, while Thurmond was allowed to take a bathroom break, Booker did not. He also didn't read from an encyclopedia but instead delivered stirring rhetoric speaking to everything from civil rights to Donald Trump and Elon Musk's attacks on the federal government.
