Full disclosure: This is almost definitely a cute story about how Christopher Nolan was too shy to ask Zendaya to star in The Odyssey, and everyone has nothing but respect for each other. That said, it does kinda read like Tom Holland was cast just to land Zendaya. Sure, he’s Spider-Man, and that will sell some tickets, but can he realistically play a goddess? That’s the real catch. When we prop up the myth that we need a Manly Man to save us, disaster is never far away. Whether it's because of leftish, slavering sexism; seeking to punish your mom or the "HR Lady"; feminist heteropessimism; leftist class-first politics (only manly white men can be working class!) it's all bad.
