I’m going to show my age here, but I remember the Wild West internet days of casting news for the Star Wars prequels. I know Leonardo DiCaprio was in the mix, but almost definitely a pipe dream. Paul Walker was reportedly very close if I recall, and I want to say Ryan Phillippe was a contender. What I didn’t know is that Charlie Hunnam was also on the list, presumably around the time when he was on Undeclared, Judd Apatow’s second TV series that never made it past a first season on Fox. It was, however, a hit with my college girlfriend’s dorm thanks to Hunnam rocking his natural accent. Anyway, Hunnam scored a meeting with George Lucas, which was a huge deal at the time, because George wasn’t big on seeing actors. Unfortunately, that meeting did not go well. (Variety)

When Jezebel was shut down by G/O Media, its writers repeatedly claimed that their coverage was vital to the fight for reproductive rights. They even got the NYT to write a retrospective piece on Jezebel’s legacy. Now that the site is back, those same writers are blasting Planned Parenthood for — big sigh — condemning the rape of Israeli women by Hamas. Turns out the real cause was in-crowd preening all along. Who knew? (Jezebel)
