Rabbi Dr. Shmuly Yanklowitz, on tonight’s passing of Ruth Bader Ginsberg:
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, of blessed memory, was a model Jew in that she dedicated her life to justice. I was standing next to her at the White House when President Obama announced that Nelson Mandela had died. The room went silent and then RBG yelled: “Justice!”
So, that is what I’m yelling now, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, from the depths of my heart: “Justice!!!!!”
Justice Ginsburg, may your memory inspire the next generations to commit their lives to pursuing justice as well!
I don’t have much to add. Stay off social media. Hug loved ones if you have them near. Watch RBG. Mourn the passing of Justice Ginsberg. Celebrate her life. Collect yourself. Fight. Fight for the next generation. Fight for everyone who died in the pursuit of justice before Ginsberg. Fight for the goddamn soul of the nation.
May her memory be a blessing.
May her memory be a revolution.— Amanda Litman (@amandalitman) September 18, 2020
