I don’t like Tom Brady, but I respect his talent as a QB and I’m proud of the guy for standing up to Roger Goodell and the NFL, even if the Patriots are cheaters. And look: I know that my preferred QB, Peyton Manning, is a Republican and I’m willing to forgive him for that because there are very reasonable Republicans in the world. Republicans who don’t immediately discredit Trump, however, are not among the reasonable ones. I assume that Manning would fit into the reasonable crowd.
Tom Brady, on the other hand? He has four Super Bowl rings a supermodel wife and apparently, no goddamn sense because when asked about Donald Trump, the first thing out of his mouth was not, “He is a crazy person. He is B-A-N-A-N-A-S. He thinks all Mexican immigrants are criminals and rapists, he disrespects women, and he’s an incoherent, bloviating jackass. OF COURSE, I wouldn’t vote for him because I have respect for humanity.”
At a bare minimum, that’s what anyone in their right mind should say about Donald Trump when asked whether they’d vote for him. Brady, on the other hand, refused to comment on whether he’d vote for Trump, but did say nice things about the man.
‘It’s pretty amazing what he’s been able to accomplish as an entrepreneur and then as a television star and now running for political office,’ he said in an interview with a Boston sports talk radio station.
‘People who can do those types of things and transition into different arenas and still have that type of appeal and carry over — he’s obviously appealing to a lot of different people. He’s a helluva lot of fun to play golf with.’
To be fair, Brady was speaking to WEEI, which has a conservative bent, and maybe he doesn’t want to alienate anyone, but don’t you do more to alienate fans by not denouncing a racist, sexist bigot?
Can we get that suspension reinstated now? I bet Jimmy Garoppolo wouldn’t shy away from shit-talking Trump.
Oh yeah, Tom Brady also said something about his marriage to Giselle Bunchen is strong, in spite of rumors to the contrary.
