As the god-awful Diddy situation works its way through the courts and media, attorneys for his victims have warned that other celebrities were reportedly involved in the alleged acts that occurred during Diddy’s parties a.k.a. “freak offs.” Will Smith would like to make it very clear that he was not one of those celebrities.

Apparently, Will has been the subject of several memes involving him and Diddy, and he’d like that to stop right freaking now please. As he told the crowd at a recent show in San Diego, the internet is a dark and gullible place where people believe anything, so knock it off.

Via Variety:

“I been seeing y’all memes and stuff, you’ve been making memes. I’ve seen the memes. Some of the stuff is funny. But I haven’t addressed any of this publicly but I want to say this very clear: I don’t have sh*t to do with Puffy, so y’all can stop all the memes. Stop all of that bullsh*t.”

Will took things even further by noting that he’s made mistakes (I’m assuming this means Jaden? I’m going with Jaden), but again, being involved with Diddy is not one of them.

“I ain’t been anywhere near no damn freak off,” he said. “I do enough of my own shit, don’t be putting me in other people’s shit. I ain’t been nowhere near that man, ain’t did none of that stupid shit. So whatever y’all hearing, if somebody say that, it’s a damn lie. I ain’t even like baby oil.”

Here’s what’s working a whole lot in Will Smith’s favor, but how do I put this delicately? He’s a freaking dork. He’s the Urkel of the hip-hop world. The reason everyone was so stunned when he slapped Chris Rock is because Will Smith does not have a reputation as a hard dude. To be clear, I’m not saying being at a Diddy party means you were cool because of all the horribleness. But I’m also not not saying you needed a certain… cachet to be there.

Anyway, I distinctly remember when Men in Black II came out and Tommy Lee Jones was inexplicably being interviewed by Nelly on MTV. (For the record, I cannot find a clip of this, but I swear to God it happened. Maybe.) Jones clearly had no idea who Nelly was. When he found out that Nelly is a rapper, Jones asked him if he’d heard Will’s new single for the movie, “Nod Your Head,” as if the two were contemporaries. The look on Nelly’s face was priceless.

Here was a man who was clearly offended that he was being equated with Will Smith, but he also knew that he was on MTV with Tommy Lee Jones and had to be polite. You could visibly see the internal struggle coursing through every fiber of his being.

And that’s why I believe Will Smith was never at a Diddy party. The End.
