Who Was Leonardo DiCaprio Talking to in Viral Golden Globes Moment?

Celebrities are nothing like us. Their lives unfold in such a way that it would be impossible for an average person to relate to. That may not be the case for every celebrity, and it isn’t guaranteed to last, but that is generally the case. However, they are people, and, occasionally, that aspect of them slips out into the open in a way that can serve as a friendly reminder that we do have that in common. Leonardo DiCaprio had one such moment at the Golden Globes.

There’s a chance you’ve already seen it, as it made the rounds. The actor was seated at his table and could be seen mouthing something to someone across the room. He is clearly saying “KPop” a bunch, but I honestly didn’t notice that until looking at it today with some extra clarification. Leo is playfully teasing the person he is talking to, and it’s a lovely little moment. I can see why it went viral, because it makes the Titanic actor look like a lot of fun. But who was he talking to? There are so many famous folks at those awards, and Leo is pretty popular. It could have been anyone! Was he joking with longtime collaborator, Martin Scorsese? Did the actor spot Guillermo del Toro and decide to give him some guff? Were other members of Leo’s infamous P**** Posse seated across the way for … some reason? The answer is much simpler than all of those. DiCaprio was talking to his One Battle After Another co-star Teyana Taylor.

The actress revealed to Access Hollywood that she was on the other end of Leo’s playful gestures, but there’s a very good reason. “And the crazy part about it is, I’m so blacked out from that day, that I want to say we may have been talking about KPop Demon Hunters,” she explained. “Because I was so happy when they won, because my kids love KPop Demon Hunters. So, I was over there just jamming, and I think he just caught me jamming and we started talking about it.” That’s pretty great!

Taylor goes on to reveal that she didn’t really realize what Leo was saying at first, which makes it even funnier. It’s just one of the biggest stars in the world and your co-worker, sitting across the way, making silly faces and hand gestures, and that’s just your life. That’s not a situation people find themselves in every day, but it’s pretty fantastic regardless.
