Let’s rip this Band-Aid right off: Mark-Paul Gosselaar, best known as TV’s Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell, is 52-years-old. That makes all of us… an indeterminate number that doesn’t really matter. Forget about it. I don’t know why I brought it up.
Anyway, Gosselaar recently appeared at the Bell Media upfronts in Toronto to promote his new Canadian series, Bulges, which is apparently a comedy set in a male version of Hooters. Not gonna lie, that sounds like a fun premise!
To promote the show, Gosselaar took the stage in tiny shorts and a crop-top where the internet went freaking bananas for his abs. The Instagram video I’m linking below is watermarked with the words “OK Zack Morris I didn’t know you still played like that” as people fanned themselves in the comments. They were ready for a time out with Zack if you know what I mean.
But then, the worm turned. As folks watched the clip over and over, trapped in a Zack Attack of their own making, they began to notice something was off. Before you know it, theories started flying that Gosselaar is wearing fake abs. To be clear, I don’t have abs. Never have, never will unless beer stop being delicious, so I’m not an expert here. That said, there is something weird about the way Gosselaar’s torso moves when he starts to leave the stage. It doesn’t help that the video was filmed from 80 yards away and through a cheese cloth, but there is an uncanny valley to our boy’s physique. Of course, I didn’t watch the video until after I saw the fake ab theories, so there’s a very real chance that affected my judgment.
Let’s be honest, I’m not a smart man. I write articles like this for a living. Five minutes from now, I’ll eat a Swiss Cake Roll over the sink, so you should really question who you trust on the internet. They literally let anyone use this thing.
