Jeopardy with someone you hate.""/>

Here’s a little light in a dark world: Jimmy Kimmel’s “nemesis,” Matt Damon, appeared alongside the host of Jeopardy (and its all-time greatest player), Ken Jennings, to play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and, to Kimmel’s private delight and public chagrin, took home $1 million for charity, specifically, Damon’s charity, Water.org.
Damon, sporting his Odyssey beard, joined in the fun. You can watch the full run here, beginning with Ken Jennings surprising Kimmel with his co-player, Matt Damon, who “finally got on your show.” The two razzed each other from last week’s episode all the way up to the final question in this week’s, where Jennings and Damon, somewhat anticlimactically, won the $1 million.
“I’m coming on Jeopardy with someone you hate,” Kimmel warned Jennings before they were awarded the big check. The final question, for the record, was: “Which of these words is used to describe one of the most beautiful auditory effects on Earth, the sound made by the leaves of trees when wind blows through them?” The answer was “susurrus,” which Jennings knew even before using the 50/50.
The idea, it turns out, was Kimmel’s. At a cancer fundraiser, he pitched it to Jennings: get a real A-lister on Millionaire and have Jennings play the ringer. Kimmel even helped out with the “Ask the host” lifeline, correctly answering the $500,000 question about which star’s claim to fame was entering a Steve Martin look-alike contest (it was Bill Nye—and of the three of them, only Kimmel knew the answer).
