Let’s just put a pin in all of the IRL horrors with some good ol’ fashioned Hollywood horrors, shall we? Spooky Season is on, y’all.
Shelby Oaks writer/director Chris Stuckmann is a YouTuber. He’s one of the more popular film critics on that platform, with over 2 million subscribers and over 779 million views. He caught the attention of Mike Flanagan, who is executive producing this supernatural horror mystery movie.
This feels like a job for the Winchester Brothers.
Shelby Oaks opens in theaters on October 3rd.
The Black Phone was a surprisingly good horror movie. It’s only taken them three and a half years to release a sequel. I’m not sure if it will live up to its predecessor, but I’m willing to let it try. Ethan Hawke does a great job in this role.
It seems like they’re positioning The Grabber to be a 21st-century Freddy Krueger, which will be great for franchise rights, but will probably work out badly for the quality of the films (I love Freddy, but you know I’m right).
Black Phone 2 will be released in theaters on October 17th.
Leave it to Blumhouse to figure out that no man-made horror will ever be as scary as what Mother Nature can create. Nightmares in Nature on Netflix will be the miniest of mini-series with only two episodes scheduled so far. ‘The Cabin In The Woods,’ and ‘Lost in the Jungle.’
This should not be confused with the existing Netflix mini-series Nightmares OF Nature, a documentary about survival stories.
The first episode of Nightmares in Nature streams on Netflix on September 30th, and the second will stream on October 28th.
This week’s lagniappe is another one of Justin Long’s horror/comedy movies, Coyotes. I’m putting it here because it’s a red-band trailer and will ask you to open YouTube to watch it.
Kate Bosworth, Mila Harris, and Brittany Allen also star in Coyotes, and it will premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 20.
It opens in theaters on October 3rd.
