Return Timelines for 'Shōgun,' 'Deadloch,' 'Ted,' & 13 More Long-Delayed Series

Streaming platforms sometimes take forever to release their next seasons. I blame the current Administration, even though all of the shows below last aired during the Biden years. Here’s a quick look at the status updates for long-delayed shows on various platforms.

Amazon Prime
Upload: Returning in August after a nearly two-year hiatus.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith — Mark Eydelshteyn (Anora) and Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) have been cast in the second season, replacing Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as the leads. The first season aired in 2024. The second is currently in production.

Deadloch — Production began last September — Amazon even released a first image. The series last aired in 2023. The second season will include Luke Hemsworth — the other Hemsworth brother — as a crocodile wrangler. No release date has been set.

Hulu
Shōgun — Last aired in April 2024. Shooting for the second season is not even set to begin until January 2026, and it’s not expected to premiere until 2027.

Disney
Ahsoka — Last aired in August 2023. Filming began on season two in April 2025, but it’s not expected to be released until 2026.

Apple TV+
For All Mankind — The series was renewed 14 months ago, and filming began a year ago. There is no release date yet for the fifth season. The series last aired in January 2024.

The Last Thing He Told Me — Last aired as a limited series in April 2023. The Jennifer Garner series was renewed for a second season in March 2024. Filming began in November 2024. No word on a release date.

Hijack — The Idris Elba series last aired in the summer of 2023. Production began in June 2024. No release date has been announced.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters — Last aired in November 2023. Filming on the second season completed in February 2025. No release date has been set, but late 2025 is the expectation.

Peacock
Ted — Last aired in January 2024. Filming on season two wrapped in January 2025. There’s been no release date set yet.

HBO Max
House of the Dragon — Last aired in the summer of 2024. Filming on the third season is currently underway. It’s not expected until at least mid-2026.

Euphoria — Last aired in 2022. The third season is currently in production and is not expected to arrive until 2026.

Peacemaker — Last aired in February 2022. The second season will finally arrive in August 2025.

Netflix
Stranger Things — Last aired in July 2022. The final season arrives in November and December 2025.

Witcher — Last aired in July 2023. The fourth season will return in late 2025 (and the fifth and final season was filmed back-to-back). Liam Hemsworth has replaced Henry Cavill as the lead.

Three Body Problem — Last aired in March 2024. Filming on the second and third seasons (its final) is set to begin this month and run until August 2027. A release date is not expected until 2028.
